President
Troy Strang is the President of Centennial Electric, one of the leading commercial and industrial electrical contractors in Lansing and the surrounding areas. As President, Troy oversees many aspects of Centennial Electric’s growth and strategic planning. This includes overseeing the project management division, reviewing future projects and managing the financial department of the business. Troy, along with former business partner Scott Whitaker – now retired – founded Centennial Electric in 2006. Troy has 30+ years’ experience in the electrical industry dating back to the late 80’s. Prior to starting Centennial Electric Troy went through the IBEW Apprenticeship program and later ran work as a field foreman and later a Project Manager at Delta Electric for 10 years. Troy obtained his Associated Degree in Electrical Technology from Lansing Community College in 1988.
In addition to his efforts at Centennial Electric, Troy volunteers his time on the IBEW/NECA Apprenticeship Board and has maintained an active membership in the National Electrical Contractor Association (NECA). Troy enjoys spending time with his friends and family both working on the family farm and spending his summers on the lake.

Trevor Strang

Trevor Strang attended Michigan State University earning a bachelor's degree in Biology. He worked in the pharmaceutical field out of college before applying to the JATC/IBEW apprenticeship program. He graduated the 5 year apprenticeship in 2021 while also earning an associate's degree in Applied Science for Inside Wireman Apprentice from Lansing Community College. Trevor has worked in the electrical industry for 7 years, 4 of which have been with Centennial Electric. He began as an apprentice with Centennial Electric before working as Warehouse Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Field Foreman and now Project Manager. Trevor has managed projects in many markets including Retail, Education, Healthcare, Commercial and Light Industrial. Trevor also assists our estimating department with estimating projects when necessary. Trevor spends his spare time hunting, enjoying water sports and downhill skiing.

Mike began his construction career in 1999 wiring houses throughout the Greater Lansing area. He attended Lansing Community College and graduated from the IBEW/JATC five-year electrical apprenticeship program. Throughout his 22 years in the industry, he quickly advanced from an apprentice electrician to Foreman, Superintendent, Project Manager and Estimator. In early 2017 he joined the Centennial team as an estimator, bringing with him an extensive knowledge of how to deliver successful projects on time and under budget. He currently leads the pre-construction and estimating team which includes estimating, planning, budgeting, design assist and GMP project delivery. Mike’s passion for the industry, desire for knowledge and drive to succeed make him a great asset to every project he becomes involved with. His community involvement includes volunteering at Portland St. Patrick’s church where he has served on the Buildings and Grounds committee, Summerfest committee and headed up several volunteer projects. He also volunteers as a trap shooting coach for the St. Patrick’s school trap team. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, spending time with family and working the family farm with his dad, wife and three boys.

Trent Strang attended Olivet College as a dual major earning degrees in both Financial Planning and Insurance/Risk Management. He worked in the financial industry for 3 years before applying to the JATC/IBEW apprenticeship program. He graduated from the apprenticeship program as an Inside Wireman in 2023. Much of the knowledge he learned in college and while working with other business owners in the financial field has helped translate to his role in overseeing the financial department and strategic planning of the business. Prior to joining Centennial’s leadership team, Trent worked in the field as an apprentice with Centennial Electric. He has also had roles as Warehouse Manager, assisting with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, Assistant Project Manager, and currently Preconstruction/Estimating. Trent enjoys spending his free time on the water, golfing and traveling the world with his wife Andrea.

Travis Shance is a Project Manager and Estimator for Centennial Electric. As a Project Manager, Travis heads the Building Controls and Building Automation division which focuses on increasing energy efficiency and building systems automation to reduce customer energy cost and impact. Along with project management Travis estimates all of his own projects and manages those projects until completion. Travis started his construction career in 2001 as an apprentice electrician working in commercial construction out of Grand Rapids. He left the construction industry for 5 years to pursue a career, traveling across the country, in market development and later returned to construction in 2015. In 2019 former Centennial Partner & head of Building Controls/Automation division Scott Whitaker stepped into retirement, this allowed Travis to step into his new role with Centennial as project manager and estimator.

Tracy Sears is a project manager for Centennial Electric. In his role as a project manager Tracy is responsible for managing electrical projects in an efficient manner. His passion for the industry and his attention to detail drives him to deliver high quality installations to our customers. Tracy has over 25+ years of experience within the electrical industry. He completed the five-year IBEW/JATC apprenticeship program in 2002. Before joining Centennial Electric, he was one of the founders and owners of JT&T Electric for 13 years where he was able to complete many successful electrical projects in the greater Lansing area. Tracy has a great passion for assisting the future generations of electricians and serves on the IBEW/NECA Apprenticeship Sub Committee. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, taking care of his yard, and spending time with his family. He also enjoys traveling and visiting the national parks with his family. His favorite place that he has traveled to is Glacier National Park.

Mike Alspaugh joined Centennial Electric in 2021 as the Warehouse and Logistic Manager. As Warehouse/Logistics Manager, Mike is responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring logistics operations in the supply chain process. This includes ordering all of Centennial’s day to day material, moving tools from one job to another and monitoring the accuracy to minimize the time, labor and materials used on construction projects. Prior to joining Centennial, Mike spent 6 years at Wesco of Lansing as the Warehouse Manager and 21 years at East Jordan Ironworks where he worked his way up to shift leader. Mike is a graduate of Portland High School and has taken classes at Lansing Community College in the Building Trades program. Mike enjoys following anything that has to do with sports and spending time with his family on beach vacations.

Candi Miller

As Office Manager for Centennial Electric Candi handles the daily running of the office. This includes Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll Timekeeping, and miscellaneous office duties. Candi has been with Centennial Electric since 2016 and has an additional 5 years’ experience with another Electrical Contractor previous. Candi’s previous work history has been in office support positions from Accounting roles to Purchasing for a chemical company and then in Purchasing for a food and animal safety company. When Candi started working for an Electrical Contractor she knew she found her niche and was so excited to join Centennial Electric as the Office Manager.
